Remember to wear the clothes you will need to go to the activity on day 1 when you get on the plane.
There is no where to change once we arrive in Beijing.
It wil be cold...wrap up warm
We arrived safely this morning to a freezing Beijing
We went straight to the hotel dumped our bags then headed for The forbidden
City. Very impressive but somewhat crowded TingTing our tour guide gave us some great information about the palace.
2 chinese meals down both very good. Tomorrow we climb the wall and head for Mongolia!!!!!
It is very cold, some snow visible in the palace gardens.
Struggling to put photos, sorry
Day 2
Up by 7.30am and fed & watered( except for Bashir and Khalid who couldn't hear the alarm, phone and the banging on the door)
Went to Ming Tombs first then down the sacred walk.
Chinese buffet for lunch then on the the Great Wall, sunny day all wrapped up but soon were beiremoved as we took a gentle stroll up to 1100m.
Gentle it was definitely not, steep paths and steps, snow & quite a few traders. Some fantastic scenery and nobody moaned about anything.
Back into town for dinner, Chinese, very nice.
It was good of Gaby to have a birthday today so birthday cake was delivered, thanks
Student of the day must go to Ali, looked absolutely shattered about 2 mins into the wall walk but made it all the way to the top ad back.
Still trying with the pictures....

Visited Tiananmen Square, massive very interesting to hear the history behind this place, pphotograph to follow. We then went to the park, sounds dull but was very good, locals dancing in the street, quite normal apparently. We then went to Huton, these are very narrow streets with shops and housing, whilst we were there we visited an actual resident ihn her home, she made us very welcome,we asked her lots of questions and we bought most of her husbands paintings. We then had pizza.
In the evening we went to a noodle house and some glorious food then off to the theatre to watch a kungfoo/ballet/opera thing. Very impressive.
Tomorrow we leave to go to a local school to do some community work, wait and see how we get on...
Day 4We let Beijing Mingyuan School experience us today, it began with a military warm up style exercise then the bell went and they shot to class like rabbits down burrows. We spent time in 2 classes telling the students about ourselves and life in Abu Dhabi.(class sizes of 57)!!!!We left our mark in paint on one of the school walls, we think maybe Mrs Mallen might not have been that impressed. We then went to the food street market where Mr Kilding ate 3 fried scorpions, then onto the silk factory to see where it all comes from, apparently Mr Kilding could eat the silk worms too.We are presently on the overnight sleeper to Xi'An but suspect there won't be much sleep.Tomorrow we take on the Terracotta army,
day 5
Arrived safely in Xi'An 7.58 right on the dot, so warm down here, everyone peeled off their layers and made the most of the warm weather. McDonalds breakfast was horrible, then straight of to the bhuddist temple, beautiful. An hour therebthen of to the Museum to check out the different dynesties. From there we went to the hotel, very nice shower and changed then off for a 13.5km bike ride around the city wall which was amazing. We all did very well, couple of crashes but that was Gence and Vandita. Back to hotel, clean up then pizza, we now have to write some stuff for the journals.
Warriors now tomorrow, give us time to plan the attack, then sleeper train back to Beijing.
next blog will be at the hotel on friday night before we leave for the airport.
Day 6
terracotta warriors were awesome, never seen anything like it before, can't wait until we do pottery at school. many warriors will be returning to UAE.
We also did a couple of parks yesterday before we had probably the best meal so far. We left Xi'an about 8 pm last night with temeratures of 26 degrees and woke up in Beijing to a freezing 2 degrees, off to birds nest stadium and clothes market, another Hutong then dinner should be Peking duck...
flying home leaving here at 1.20am and hopefully back in Abu Dhabi by 6.45 Saturday morning.
Parents please be there on time to collect your wonderful child....
A great trip, everyone behaved themselves and definately lernt something about China and chinese culture.
Our thanks go to Mrs Weller for organising this CAS trip.
